Megan Giddings is a writer and educator based in Minneapolis, where she teaches as an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota. Her debut novel, Lakewood, earned widespread acclaim, landing on New York Magazine’s list of the 10 best books of 2020 and NPR’s best books of the year. It was also recognized as a Michigan Notable Book for 2021, nominated for two NAACP Image Awards, and became a finalist for the 2020 Los Angeles Times Book Prize in The Ray Bradbury Prize for Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Speculative Fiction.

Her second novel, The Women Could Fly, continued to build on her reputation for thoughtful, genre-bending fiction. It was selected as a New York Times Editors’ Choice and named among the best science fiction and fantasy books of 2022 by both The Washington Post and Vulture.

In addition to her novels, Giddings has received fellowships and support from the Barbara Deming Foundation and Hedgebrook, further affirming her voice as a vital force in contemporary fiction.
